Welcome to The Latte Cafe, a place where Black women can discuss all aspects of life in an interracial marriage or serious relationship. Your host and barista is DreamyEyes, a thirty-something woman in the Northeast who intermarried (is that word passe yet?) almost four years ago. My husband and I don’t spend all of our time talking about the politics of being in an interracial marriage or serious relationship, but it’s obvious that our different cultural backgrounds always assert themselves in: vacation preferences, the dynamics among our friends, cuisine and his fascination with how much time Black women spend cultivating their hair. That’s what this blog is about: daily discoveries of how our different cultural backgrounds actually complement each other.
If all goes well, there will be lively discussions about the politics of our relationships, but primarily I want us to share hilarious stories, vacation tips, swap recipes and the like. After all, we are involved in relationships here, which at their core are supposed to be fun!
